COVID-19: 1,210 new cases today, 518 reported in the Klang Valley

Malaysia has recorded 1,210 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 49,730. There are 5 new deaths reported and the death toll is now 318.

The Ministry of Health has reported 1,018 new recoveries and a total of 36,624 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is now 73.7% while the mortality rate is now 0.6%.

There are currently 12,788 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are receiving treatment. 105 are in ICU while 40 require respiratory support.

Out of the 1,210 new cases today, 19 are imported while 1,191 are transmitted locally. Sabah recorded the most with 499 new cases, followed by Selangor with 271 cases, Kuala Lumpur with 245 cases and Negeri Sembilan with 67 cases.

The Ministry of Health has identified 5 new clusters today. This includes the Avenue and Kejora clusters in Sabah, Kasah cluster in Kuala Lumpur, Summer Cluster in Penang and Mengketil cluster which covers Kelantan and Terengganu.

Out of the 41 active clusters that recorded new cases today, the Damanlela construction site cluster continues to record the most with 206 new cases. This is followed by the Teratai cluster in Selangor with 142 new cases and Sandakan Prison cluster with 122 new cases. Malaysia has been recording more than 1,000 cases daily for 5 straight days.
