Astro is expanding its 4K viewing experience for Ultra Box customers as it now provides Video on Demand (VOD) content in 4K UHD. This includes movies such as Trolls World Tour, Gemini Man, Charlie’s Angels and Rocketman, as well TV series such as Curi-curi Cinta, Sweet Dreams and documentaries Work The World: Rice Unearthed, The Great Shukonin and more.

The 4K UHD VOD content that’s part of your subscription is accessible at no extra cost and Astro will be increasing its catalog on a monthly basis. Other VOD content are still offered with a resolution of up to Full HD.

To access the content, press on “Home” on your Astro remote and browse through the 4K UHD VOD selection on “Catch-up”, “Movies” or “Boxsets”. You can also rent 4K UHD movies from the store for as low as RM9 for 48 hours. You can also subscribe Astro Best and First movies at RM12 and RM17 respectively.

To enjoy the 4K UHD VOD content on Astro Ultra Box, customers will require a compatible 4K TV with a HDCP 2.2 HDMI cable and a broadband speed of 30Mbps and above. For the best experience, they recommend customers to take up the Astro & Broadband bundle that starts from RM99/month.

According to Astro, the Ultra Box is well received and there are over 100,000 units installed, which is up 60% over 3 months. Astro has over 50,000 on-demand titles and customers have streamed 77 million on demand videos in the first half of the year which is doubled over the same period last year. They added that the weekly time spent has increased 21% year-on-year to 561 minutes as more customers discover more 4K UHD content.
