Malaysia has reported 6 new COVID-19 cases today which brings the total number of infections to 9,340. Unfortunately, there’s one more death reported and the death toll is now 127.
The Ministry of Health has reported 6 new recoveries and a total of 9,054 patients have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate currently stands at 96.94% while the mortality rate is 1.36%.
There are 159 active COVID-19 cases remaining which are isolated and receiving treatment. 6 patients are in ICU with 4 requiring respiratory support.
Out of the 6 cases today, 4 are imported while 2 are transmitted lOut of the 6 cases today, 4 are imported while 2 are transmitted locally. The 4 imported cases are from a newly identified Bunga cluster that consists of 2 Malaysians and 2 foreigners that arrived from Singapore on a ship.
A total of 34 crew members have been screened and 4 have returned positive. Other 24 individuals are still waiting for results while 6 have tested negative. The 4 positive cases were not showing any symptoms and were initially quarantined at a hotel before transferring to Hospital Sungai Buloh.
In terms of local cases, both are Malaysians reported in Kedah. One is from the Tawar cluster while the other is from the newly identified Telaga cluster. At the moment, there are a total of 74 positive cases from the Tawar cluster and 16,462 individuals have been screened so far.
Meanwhile, the Telaga cluster currently has a total of 5 positive cases which include 2 other previously reported cases which are close contacts of the index case. A total of 735 individuals have been screened so far.
