Malaysia has recorded 3 new cases today which brings the total number of COVID-19 infections to 8,737. There are no new deaths reported and the death toll remains at 122.
The Ministry of Health has recorded 12 new recoveries, and a total of 8,538 cases have recovered and discharged so far. The recovery rate is currently 97.72% and the mortality rate is 1.40%.
At the moment, there are 77 active cases remaining. The number of patients in ICU have dropped to 3 and there’s one case that require respiratory support.
From the 3 new cases today, there are 2 local cases involving foreigners in Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak. Meanwhile, the sole import case is a Malaysian returning from Nigeria.
According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 868,394 individuals have been tested for COVID-19 so far and the positive rate is 1.01%. They have also identified a new Mambong cluster in Samarahan and Kuching in Sarawak. A total of 70 individuals have been tested.
The cluster has recorded 2 positive cases so far which consist of 1 Malaysian and 1 foreigner. The remaining 68 individuals are still awaiting results. The Ministry is still investigating the source of the infection.
