COVID-19: 16 new cases today (June 21), 4 Malaysians among local cases

Malaysia has recorded 16 new COVID-19 cases today, which brings the total number of infections to 8,572. Fortunately, there are no new deaths recorded today and the death toll remains at 121.

There are 10 new recoveries today, and a total of 8,156 patients have recovered and discharged. The recovery rate is currently 95.15% while the mortality rate is 1.41%.

COVID-19 Malaysia 21 June status

At the moment, there are 295 active cases remaining which are still receiving treatment. 3 patients are in ICU and there are no COVID-19 patients that require respiratory support.

COVID-19 cases breakdown

Out of the 16 cases today, 3 are imported (2 Malaysians and 1 Permanent resident) while 13 are transmitted locally. From the local cases, 4 are Malaysians and the remaining 9 are foreigners.

The local cases involving Malaysians consists of 2 new cases at the Kidurong cluster in Bintulu, 1 case that was detected during a pre-surgery screening in Johor and 1 case in Melaka. 6 out of the 9 local cases involving foreigners are from the Pedas cluster, 2 cases from a cleaning company cluster in Selangor and 1 case in Sabah.

At the moment, the states and territories of Pulau Pinang, Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Putrajaya and Labuan are fully green. Meanwhile, Rembau is the only red-zone with 44 active cases due to the Pedas active cluster.
