You can soon slowly put your wedding plans back into action—it’ll just take a while longer and you’d need to adhere to the new rules and regulations that come with the RMCO. One of the first steps is (if you’re Muslim) probably looking into getting an Islamic Pre-Marriage Course (KPPI). Luckily, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) will begin to conduct it online, beginning the 13th of June.
JAIS director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said that applications for the online pre-marriage course can be made starting today. Here’s how to apply:
- Even though the courses will be online, you can choose ‘where’ you’d like to learn based on a Selangor district. It doesn’t seem like you have to choose your nearest district, considering you’ll be doing the course online, anyway. Below are the links to the different course’s districts.
- Once you’ve picked your district, you can fill in the form to apply and pay a RM50 fee online. The course is usually RM80, which included food and drink and other perks during the 2 day course.
- If they don’t give you the option of how to pay the fee online, you might need to pay at the district’s counter after finishing the course. If this is the only option, it might be best to be careful when choosing the course’s district location.
- Once you’ve submitted the form, you’ll receive an invitation through your email.
- You will then be able to attend the online pre-marriage course on the days you chose/the days you’re given.
According to JAIS, the courses will be taught through Google Classroom. It is a web service developed by Google that is completely free for educational purposes. It also helps with the process of sharing files between educators and students.
Once you’ve successfully finished the course, you’ll need to use Google Forms to apply for a day and time to retrieve your certificate. If you haven’t paid online yet, you can make the payment when you get your certificate.
Each online session would see a maximum of 150 participants. Priority would also be given to those who have registered and paid the fees to attend the pre-marriage course, which had been postponed since 18th March following the implementation of the MCO.
