For those who haven’t yet filed their income tax for the year 2019, you still have time to do so. Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri (LHDN) is extending the deadline for filing income tax return forms to the 30th June 2020. According to LHDN, the decision is meant to facilitate the submission of tax returns affected by the MCO. The new 30th June deadline is for resident individuals who do not carry on a business. However, resident individuals who do carry on a business have until 30th August 2020, and even later date. For the full amended schedule, you can click here.

The best way to file your tax returns is through to LHDN’s online service, ezHasiL. You can also use the site to make any necessary tax payments. Another way to file your taxes is manually, but it certainly isn’t the safest way due to the still looming COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s how to file your tax forms:

Manually

  • Download the necessary files needed here. You can get more information on which forms you need here
  • Fill in the forms
  • Send the forms to your nearest LHDN office

Online

  • Log in here to the ezHasil site by entering your IC and password
  • Click on ‘e-filing’
  • Fill in your necessary files
  • Click ‘Send’ when you’re done

For those who haven’t applied for e-Filing, you can apply for a new pin here. Click ‘Application’, and then ‘e-Filing PIN number application’.

I also urge you to file your taxes as soon as you can and not wait until the last minute. You can find the amended return form filing programme of the year 2020 here, or if you’d rather have it in Malay, you can click here.

For more information, you could also contact LHDN though phone call at 03-8911 1000 or 603-89111100 if you’re overseas. Alternatively, you can talk to a representative via live-chat here, send a question form here, or contact their social media platforms on Facebook or Twitter.
