COVID-19: This is how MBO Cinemas adopts “social distancing”

In light with the current COVID-19 outbreak, MBO Cinemas has taken additional measures by introducing “Social Distance Seating” in its cinema halls. This new seating arrangement has been implemented since yesterday, 14th March 2020.

To reduce seating capacity and to keep a safer distance between moviegoers, MBO Cinemas has added gaps between two seats as shown above. This means if you book one or two seats, there won’t be anyone else seating around your immediate perimeter.

The new seating arrangement is reflected on both their website and Android app, however, they are still working on updating their iOS version. You can still book two seats on the iOS app but you can’t book a single seat.

In addition, the cinema is also taking additional precautions which include putting hand sanitisers at their usher point and KECIL halls. Antiseptic wipes are also provided upon request at the usher point or you can request for one from their cinema crew before entering the movie hall. Moviegoers are recommended to wipe their hands or seat for extra precaution.

Overall, it is a good move from MBO to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. However, if you’re showing symptoms of influenza, it is recommended that you stay away from public spaces. As of yesterday, there are 238 confirmed cases and 80 new cases were reported in the past two days. Out of these figures, 35 cases have recovered and discharged.
