In the past few weeks, there have been a number of complaints from TM Unifi customers with regards to access to gaming servers. It was alleged that TM was blocking access to EA, Ubisoft and PlayStation Network (PSN) servers.
TM assures that the allegation is not true and they do not block access to gaming servers as they are aware of the importance of video games and eSports in Malaysia. Following the complaints, TM has conducted its own investigation and they have also contacted the respective gaming service providers.
According to TM, they found that the issue not only affected Unifi users but also gamers on other networks in Malaysia and around the world. They concluded that the issues faced are not related to TM’s network. TM boasts having the widest connectivity and converged network infrastructure that’s backed by multiple direct peering connections, 12 data centres, 20 submarine cables that span across the globe with over 560,000km fibre optic cables deployed domestically and internationally.
Login issues
TM has also provided several reasons why users are facing difficulty in connecting to their game servers and this could include multiple login attempts which are a sign of compromised accounts. The broadband provider recommends affected users to reach out to their respective service providers to check if there are issues with their account.
PSN NAT
For customers facing issues with PSN Network Address Translation (NAT) configuration, Unifi’s community forum has provided a solution which recommends changing your DNS to Google DNS. The broadband provider recommends users to head over to their unity community for assistance on their service issues as they have active community members that can help each other.
