Garmin has been active with smartwatch releases recently, with the recent releases of the new Fenix 6 range, as well as the Forerunner series. And now, we’ve got a new smartwatch from Garmin in Malaysia: The Garmin Venu. This is Garmin’s first smartwatch with a an AMOLED display, which Garmin says is “perfect for everyday usage”.

The 390 x 390 display, measuring at 1.2″, can be set to be always-on, while there is a variety of live watch faces and and animated workouts to help with techniques and form for workouts; the company promises that this doesn’t compromise the battery-life of the Venu.

Available with a range of around-the-clock health monitoring features, the Venu will included advanced sleep tracking with Pulse Ox, respiration tracking, abnormal heart alerts, and even menstrual cycle tracking. Also featured is Innovative Body Battery energy monitoring, which will allow users to check energy levels at any given time.

There’s built-in GPS, and the Venu also allows for you to download song/playlists from 3rd party services such as Spotify to your wrist for standalone playback. The Incident Detection and Assistance features, meanwhile, will send a real-time location to emergency contacts if required—when paired to your smartphone. Unfortunately, Garmin Pay remains unavailable in the Malaysian market.

Garmin promises up to 5 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, and up to 6 hours in GPS + music mode, while it’s water-resistance rating of 5ATM.

The Garmin Venu will be available from the 9th of October 2019 for RM1,799 at the Garmin Roadshow currently being held at Mid Valley Megamall (9–13 October), or at authorised Garmin retailers.

As for colour options, the Venu is available in Black with Slate Hardware and Light Sand with Rose Gold Hardware. Two colour options that are coming in November 2019 are: Granite Blue with Silver Hardware, and Black with Gold Hardware.
