Realme has revealed two quad-camera smartphones yesterday – the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro. But the Oppo sub-brand has one more surprise coming soon and that’s the Realme XT that boasts a higher resolution camera.
As teased for months now, we know that Realme is releasing a new 64MP capable smartphone that uses Samsung’s GW1 sensor. During the Realme 5 series launch event, the India CEO Madhav Sheth had said that the Realme XT will be a “complete expert” in its price range and it will be making its debut before Diwali. He didn’t provide the exact launch date but it was suggested that it’s happening in late September.
The 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 features a large 1/1.72″ sensor that has a pixel size of 0.8-micron. In low light situations, it can produce a brighter 16MP image with its pixel-merging Tetracell technology.
We don’t have details of the other three cameras just yet and it could be similar to the current Realme 5 Pro. The quad-camera setup on the Realme 5 Pro features a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and two 2MP cameras for depth effects and macro shots.
Apart from Realme, its competitor Xiaomi is also expected to release a 64MP smartphone very soon. The Chinese smartphone maker has recently announced a new 108MP sensor together with Samsung which will be offered on an upcoming flagship device.
