The Realme 5 Pro is now official and this is their latest premium mid-range smartphone offering. The Oppo sub-brand has skipped the number 4 and this new Realme 5 Pro is seen as the successor to the current Realme 3 Pro.
Upfront, the Realme 5 Pro retains a similar 6.3″ Full HD+ Dewdrop display as the current model and it offers a 90.6% screen to body ratio. Under the hood, it runs on a newer 2.3GHz Octa-core Snapdragon 712 processor with options up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. If you need to expand further, the storage is still expandable up to 256GB extra via microSD card.
In the imaging department, Realme features a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera that supports AI HDR and beautification features. For normal shots, the rear of the Realme 5 Pro comes with a quad-camera setup that’s aligned vertically. It uses a 48MP f/1.79 main camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, an 8MP f/2.25 ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 2MP portrait camera and a 2MP macro camera.
To capture better low light pictures, the Realme 5 Pro also features Super Nightscape which uses its multi-frame engine and HDR. The camera can also shoot 4K videos at 30fps and it also supports 960fps slow-mo in 720p resolution. There’s no OIS but it does support electronic image stabilisation for both front and rear cameras. For instant unlocking, the device still features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Powering the Realme 5 Pro is still a large 4,035mAh battery that supports 20W VOOC flash charging (5V 4A). Unlike its predecessor, the device now comes with a USB-C port. Audio enthusiasts will also appreciate that it still retains a 3.5mm headphone jack. Out of the box, the device runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6 (Realme edition) skin on top.
The Realme 5 Pro is offered in Crystal Green and Sparking Blue. It is available in 3 variants and below is the official pricing in India:
4GB RAM + 64GB storage – Rs. 13,999 (about RM816)
6GB RAM + 64GB storage – Rs. 14,999 (about RM874)
8GB RAM + 128GB storage – Rs. 16,999 (about RM990)
The sale of the device will begin on 4th September in India. So far there’s no word of its global availability and we expect Realme Malaysia to announce these devices in the months to come.
