The Samsung Galaxy A80 might not be the best device in the Galaxy A series for long, as a newer device with better processor was spotted on Geekbench. Based on the device details, this could be the Galaxy A90 and it appears to be running on a Snapdragon 855 processor. The benchmark scores are similar to the Xiaomi Mi 9, Redmi K20 Pro and the Qualcomm version of the Galaxy S10.

Interestingly, the device which carries the model number SM-A908N is listed with 6GB of RAM but it is likely to be available as well with 8GB RAM just like its current Galaxy A70 and Galaxy A80 models.

According to another source, the Galaxy A90 is currently being tested in South Korea and it comes with 5G connectivity and a 32MP main camera. A similar device with the model number SM-A908B is said to be heading to Europe and it appears to come with a huge 4,500mAh battery. According to Sammobile, Samsung adds a B to the model name to indicate that it’s a 5G device for international markets.

It is worth pointing out that the current Galaxy A80 that features a notchless display was initially expected to be called the Galaxy A90. The Galaxy A90 name was previously mentioned on Samsung Indonesia’s website.

It isn’t clear if the device will come with the same rotating camera mechanism as the Galaxy A80. Looking at the main camera and battery specs, the A90 might appear to be similar to the Galaxy A70.

For those looking for a 5G smartphone, Samsung currently has the Galaxy S10 5G edition which is currently going for as high as £1,099 (about RM5,690) in the UK. Since the Galaxy A is a step below the Galaxy S series, the Galaxy A90 could be Samsung’s “affordable” 5G smartphone option in selected markets.
