Oppo is introducing a new Reno smartphone series next month and it is expected to be available in global markets very soon. Before the device is revealed in China, the Reno has already passed several certifications including SIRIM in Malaysia. On top of that, we even get a glimpse of its hardware specs which is pretty close to a premium mid-range device like the R17 Pro.

Most recently, a mysterious Oppo smartphone with the model number CPH1917 has appeared on SIRIM. Now we can confirm this smartphone is the Reno as the same device was certified in Singapore’s IMDA database with “Reno” as the marketing name.

That’s not all, the same smartphone was also listed under Bluetooth.com‘s certification and it reveals some of its key hardware specs. From the listing below, the Oppo Reno has a 6.4″ Full HD+ display and it runs on a Snapdragon 710 processor. In terms of camera, interestingly, it is listed with a 48MP + 5MP dual-camera setup for the rear, while the front gets a 16MP selfie shooter. Since there are just two cameras at the back, the Reno is unlikely to be the device that comes with a 10X lossless zoom feature. You can check out the listing here.

According to Brian Shen, Oppo’s Vice President for the Chinese domestic market, Reno is Oppo’s new product line and it’s different from any Oppo products they have made so far. It will be a totally new device inside and out, and it has a different approach for photography.

He mentioned that while other manufacturers are working hard on improving beautification features, the Reno will be focused on delivering true clarity. Brian says that Reno will get the basics of photography right by giving you a “what you see is what you get” experience.

In terms of user experience, the Reno will be running on the latest Color OS 6 which comes with a host of new improvements. He added that the interface is less complicated and it has a minimalist approach. At the moment, we don’t have any visuals of the device and the Reno will be revealed on the 10th April 2019.
