The Xiaomi Play is expected to make its debut in China tomorrow. Just a day ahead of the launch the first official images of the device were made available to the public by none other than the co-founder and president of Xiaomi himself, Lin Bin.
While the name suggests that the Xiaomi Play may be a gaming phone, don’t expect the device to be on par with Xiaomi’s Black Shark range of hardcore gaming phones. Looking at the leaked specs, the Xiaomi Play appears to be more for casual gaming at an affordable price.
The Xiaomi Play gets a “Full Screen” display with waterdrop notch to house the 8MP front camera. There’s a noticeable chin at the bottom while the back of the device gets a glossy glass-looking surface like the Mi 8 Lite, a vertical dual-camera setup and a fingerprint sensor.
Updated information about the Xiaomi Play suggests that the device will come in two versions, one with 64GB of storage and the other with 128GB of storage. Both are expected to have 6GB of RAM. Other leaked specs include a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display, possibly a MediaTek processor and a 3,000mAh battery and, a retail price of 1,699RMB.
At the moment, there’s no indication if the device will be coming to Malaysia.
