The Huawei P20 leaks just keep on coming. According to German site, WinFuture, the top of the line Huawei P20 Pro will come with the largest pixel count camera on a modern smartphone which could rival the Nokia Lumia 1020.
The P20 Pro will be the first smartphone to feature a new Leica triple-camera setup. It will consist of a 40MP main camera, an 8MP 5X Hybrid Zoom lens and a 20MP monochrome sensor.
This is the insane Huawei P20 Pro – the first Leica triple-cam smartphone – with a 40 MP main cam, 8 MP 5x hybrid zoom lens, 20 MP b/w sensor. (almost) all specs etc. here: https://t.co/Oa238dToNS

We’ve mentioned before that the camera has a focal length of 27-80mm which indicated that the P20 Pro will offer 3X Optical Zoom. So that means the hybrid 5X zoom is achieved with further digital assistance.
What’s impressive is the epic 40MP pixel count. That’s more than double of the standard RGB sensor on their previous Huawei flagships and it’s more than triple on its rival smartphones that often come with 12MP main cameras. Since the camera is capable of shooting in ultra-high resolution, we won’t be surprised if the additional zoom is achieved by cropping.
Can it shoot as well as the Lumia 1020? That all depends on the actual sensor size. We’ll find out for sure next week at the launch that’s happening on 27 March 2018.
