LEAGOO has a 18:9 display smartphone and it’s a rip off of the Galaxy S8

This isn’t a joke. LEAGOO has just announced their first 18:9 smartphone and it looks like a rip off of the Galaxy S8. If it isn’t obvious enough, the new device is called the KIICAA S8 and apparently it’s also the first to feature MediaTek’s MT6763 processor.

In terms of specs, it comes in two variants – 4GB RAM + 64GB storage or 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. The front is a 5.72″ display that pushes a lower 1440×720 resolution and there’s also a bigger 5.99″ option which is said to be priced under US$300 (about RM1,285).

UPDATE: According to LEAGOO, the MT6763 processor is MediaTek’s new Helio P23 processor that’s based on a 16nm process. It has 8x Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0GHz.

That’s not all, LEAGOO is also releasing more variants later this year with the KIICAA S8 Lite and KIICAA S8 Premium. Details of the phone are rather limited and there’s no mention of its battery, cameras and dimensions. Well, at least the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor is located right smack in the middle which is easier to access than the Galaxy S8. According to LEAGOO, the KIICAA S8 will be released in about 2 months time.
