Sony Interactive Entertainment has tapped into pure late-90s nostalgia by revealing the Prism Collection, a lineup of transparent first-party accessories for the PlayStation 5. The new collection gives gamers an unobstructed view of the internal craftsmanship powering their setup.
The range comprises both standalone DualSense wireless controllers and matching PlayStation 5 console covers, sporting translucent shell casings topped with a glossy sheen. Rather than going fully bare-bones, Sony has opted for three distinct tinted finishes: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray.
Local gamers won’t have to guess whether these transparent accessories are reaching our shores, as Sony has confirmed official Malaysian pricing, which means that the Prism Collection will be released into our market.
For our market, the Prism Collection DualSense wireless controller will carry a recommended retail price of RM419 – a slight premium over the standard solid-colour controllers, but most themed or limited-edition DualSense controllers have the same price tag.
Meanwhile, gamers looking to swap out their console plates can pick up the matching Prism Collection PS5 console covers for RM369. While the general global launch of the Prism Collection will take place on 4 February 2027, the exact launch date for Malaysia has not yet been revealed.
The design language of the Prism Collection leans heavily on depth and reflection, allowing internal parts such as the console cooling fans and controller rumble actuators to subtly peek through.
According to PlayStation’s design team, the project was spearheaded to highlight internal hardware architecture while delivering a premium exterior finish that fits cleanly into modern living room setups. Each colourway brings a different personality to the table.
Flare Orange layers warm red and orange tones where the plastics overlap, Emerald Green delivers a rich aquatic tint that accentuates internal contours, and Graphite Gray keeps things sleek for players who prefer a stealthy, moody look over loud colours.
