Oppo is rolling out ColorOS 17: Here is when your phone will get the update

Oppo has officially announced ColorOS 17, confirming that the new OS will debut on the upcoming Find X10 series before expanding to older devices.

The new update introduces a more interactive UI and several system-level AI tools like AI Mind Pilot, AI Photo Agent and OSee.

Alongside the announcement, the Chinese manufacturer shared its official update roadmap detailing release windows for existing smartphones and tablets from October 2026 to the first quarter of 2027.

What’s new with ColorOS 17?

Oppo is making the interface look softer and more natural through what it calls Living Flow Design.

The system introduces translucent layers to give cards and menus a cleaner sense of depth, paired with subtle dynamic lighting that reacts whenever you tap or swipe across the screen.

Instead of abrupt screen changes or on-screen elements glide, you can merge and morph continuously into the next view. This makes transitions across apps and status bubbles feel like a single unbroken flow.

Everyday interactions are also designed to feel more tactile rather than robotic. When you touch buttons, toggles and toolbars, they visibly squash, stretch and rebound under your finger before settling back into place.

This elastic feedback gives routine taps a sense of physical weight and responsiveness, making standard touches, notification interactions and menu navigation feel more intuitive.

Under the bonnet, responsiveness gets a boost through more efficient background processing and graphical rendering.

By combining previously split rendering stages into a single pipeline, ColorOS 17 cuts rendering load by up to 30% and uses up to 25% less rendering memory.

Paired with an upgraded scheduling engine, this allows gallery thumbnails to load up to 50% quicker, improves app launch stability by 55% and keeps over 25% more applications open in the background without slowing down the phone.

ColorOS 17 integrates several system-level AI tools intended to automate everyday digital tasks and media handling.

Through AI Mind Pilot, a new Agent Mode interacts directly with on-device files and photos across multiple directories.

Rather than requiring manual file management, the agent can track down scattered documents, rename them using date and context clues, sort holiday shots into dedicated albums or extract saved notes to automatically compile travel itineraries and web pages.

Photo editing receives natural language controls and automated styling via AI Photo Agent.

Its Style Match tool evaluates reference images to extract their colour grading, tone and ambient mood, applying the identical aesthetic to your photos without manual slider adjustment.

You can also request visual tweaks through conversational prompts or let the software assess scene lighting and subject to suggest suitable enhancements.

For audio communication, AI Live Interpreter allows you to translate spoken dialogue in real time straight from supported earbuds, relying on speaker recognition algorithms to separate voices for clearer cross-language conversations.

Visual queries are handled by OSee, which serves as a unified camera shortcut consolidating multiple standalone tools.

Tapping the shutter button lets the system analyse objects in frame to trigger text translation, high-definition document scanning, nutritional breakdowns and contextual information lookups without switching apps.

For cloud-assisted computation, Oppo isolates data inside its Private Computing Cloud using end-to-end encryption and post-quantum dual-encryption protocols to protect transmissions against prospective quantum decryption threats.

You can review this activity through a local Transparency Report that records which AI tools were triggered, when requests occurred and what data was processed. It also comes with an option to export logs on demand.

When will your Oppo phone get it?

The global rollout is split into four separate batches, kicking off immediately with the company’s newest releases.

October 2026

The first wave kicks off this month for flagship hardware and recent Reno smartphones. Top-tier foldables scheduled to receive the build include the Find N6 and Find N5, alongside the Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Pro, Find X9s and Find X9.

Last year’s Find X8 Pro and Find X8 are also part of this debut window. On the mid-range front, the update lands on local variants of the Reno16 family, covering the Reno16 Pro 5G, Reno16 5G and Reno16 F 5G.

November 2026

ColorOS 17 arrives for the previous-generation foldables and earlier Reno models sold in Malaysia. Clamshell and book-style foldables receiving the firmware include the Find N3 and Find N3 Flip.

For the Reno lineup, the models slated for this update include the Reno15 Pro 5G, Reno15 5G and Reno15 F 5G.

The Reno14 Pro 5G and Reno14 F 5G also receive this update.

December 2026

In December, earlier Reno releases and Oppo’s mainstream tablet will get the update. Supported smartphones include the Reno13 Pro 5G, Reno13 5G and Reno13 F 5G.

ColorOS 17 will also be available for Oppo pads like the Pad 5 Matte Display Edition, Pad 3 Pro and Pad 3 Matte Display Edition.

Q1 2027

The final phase will roll out during the first three months of next year, ensuring extended support for older foldables, mid-range phones and budget tablets.
This list includes the Find N2 Flip alongside the Reno12 Pro 5G and Reno12 5G.

Entry-level tablet users will also see the update delivered to the Pad SE and Pad SE Matte Display Edition. Oppo points out that the rollout timeline varies by device model, country and network provider.

Do note that units purchased through telcos are excluded from this global timeline as their OS rollouts depend on independent operator testing and network approval schedules.
