After it was first previewed at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 back in June, Proton has now officially pulled the curtain back on the 2026 Proton X50 Sport Edition (SE). This is the 3rd SE release that Proton has rolled out so far for its X-series SUV lineup, following the 2025 X50 SE and 2026 X70 MC3.

Despite that, the 2026 X50 SE retains pretty much the same theme as previous SE releases, revolving around an all-black colourway with red accents. And nope, there is still no performance upgrade either—the changes implemented on the 2026 X50 SE are purely cosmetic.

Even though we got to see the unit up close, Proton has yet to disclose the 2026 X50 SE pricing. For reference, the X50 Flagship—the variant the SE is based on—currently goes for RM113,300.

Nevertheless, we were told that customers can book the 2026 X50 SE starting today, ahead of its official rollout sometime this month.

2026 Proton X50 Sport Edition: Exterior changes

In addition to having a black exterior, the chrome trim on the SUV has been blacked out for the SE version. This includes the upper garnish, side port trim garnish, and lower bumper garnish on the front of the car, as well as the rear side port trim garnish.

Similar to previous SE releases, the 2026 X50 SE features black 18-inch alloy wheels. The SUV is also decked out with an SE-exclusive bodykit set that includes front, side, and rear skirts with black and red accents.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an SE release without SE badging. There are two of them on the 2026 X50 SE: one at the back as usual, and a smaller badge on the front skirt.

2026 Proton X50 Sport Edition: Interior changes

Instead of the black and Mulberry Maroon interior you get with the standard X50 Flagship, the X50 SE features an all-black interior with red stitching. This black-and-red treatment extends to the steering wheel and seats.

To further establish the identity of the 2026 X50 SE, there is an SE embroidered logo on the front seats, as well as SE metal door scuff plates. On top of that, there are SE-specific carpets along with TPE floor mats for both front and rear occupants.
