Putrajaya autonomous EV bus service starts this week: 6 stops, RM1 per ride

Putrajaya’s Nadiputra public bus service will be joined by an autonomous electric bus starting tomorrow, 7 October 2026. Operated in collaboration with Handal Indah and eMooVit (remember this 5G-connected autonomous Proton Exora?), the new self-driving EV bus service will serve Route P113, connecting MRT Putrajaya Sentral to Dataran Gemilang.

From what we can gather, the service will likely use eMooVit’s Kinglong EV bus, which the company has been operating since 2022. The autonomous EV bus has performed numerous demo and test runs over the years, including on the Sunway BRT Line with Rapid KL, as well as in Cyberjaya and Putrajaya itself.

At the moment, it is unclear whether this will be a permanent service. However, official records show that Perbadanan Putrajaya issued a tender last December for an autonomous EV bus service with an 18-month duration, which was eventually awarded to Handal Indah with a final value of RM779,770.

Route Stops and Operating Hours

Our close encounter with the eMooVit autonomous EV bus, in front of Yinson GreenTech (YGT) Cyberjaya’s office in 2024. YGT is a major shareholder of eMooVit.

The new Route P113 service runs a loop starting and ending at MRT Putrajaya Sentral, covering key administrative hubs along the way:

  • MRT Putrajaya Sentral (Start)
  • Kementerian Kewangan
  • Istana Kehakiman
  • Kementerian Belia & Sukan
  • Dataran Gemilang
  • Kompleks Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPJ)
  • MRT Putrajaya Sentral (End)

Currently, the operational hours of the autonomous EV bus appear to be rather limited. The service will operate strictly from Monday to Friday and will not run on Saturdays, Sundays, or Public Holidays.

Departure times from MRT Putrajaya Sentral are listed below, subject to traffic conditions:

  • Morning: 7:15 AM | 8:15 AM | 9:15 AM | 10:15 AM
  • Afternoon: 2:45 PM | 3:45 PM | 4:45 PM | 5:45 PM

No Touch ‘n Go or My50 support?

The announcement on Perbadanan Putrajaya’s Facebook page, as captured at 3:15 PM.

Aside from its limited operating hours, another detail that caught our attention in the Facebook announcement is the payment method. While the P113 autonomous EV bus service accepts cashless payments, passengers must use a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card to pay for the ride.

This differs from standard Rapid KL and Nadiputra bus rides, which accept Touch ‘n Go cards and Rapid Passes/MY50. As for the fare, it costs RM1 per ride to travel on the new autonomous EV bus service.
