Just weeks after introducing the Xiaomi 18 Fold, the Chinese tech brand has just unveiled its candybar flagships, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.
Both models sit at the top of Xiaomi’s non-foldable smartphone lineup, featuring a secondary rear display, a privacy-focused main display and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme and Elite Gen 6 chips.
For Malaysian consumers, the wait should not be long as Xiaomi Malaysia has confirmed that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will be launched here this year.
Xiaomi 18 Pro specs and features
The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch OLED FullHD+ display with a 2436×1120 resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The main display features an M11 OLED panel that boasts a peak brightness of 4,000 nits.
One of the headline features is its hardware-level Privacy Display, which is designed to reduce visibility when the screen is viewed from the sides which is similar to the feature that made its debut on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Xiaomi says users can customise the level of display privacy which includes selected apps, notifications, floating windows and multitasking views.
At the rear, there’s also a secondary 2.7″ OLED panel integrated into the camera island. It pushes a resolution of 912×596, up to 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 4000 nits. Besides displaying notifications and information, the rear screen supports more than 100 app cards at launch as well as AI-generated content.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, which is manufactured on a 2nm process and features an Oryon CPU with clock speeds of up to 5GHz. The Xiaomi 18 Pro can be configured with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, paired with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
For photography, Xiaomi has equipped the 18 Pro with a Leica co-engineered triple-camera setup featuring two 200MP cameras.
The primary camera uses a 200MP 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.67 aperture and optical image stabilisation. It is joined by a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, f/2.4 aperture and OIS. The telephoto provides a native 75mm focal length, equivalent to approximately 3.2x optical zoom, and supports close-up shooting from 12cm.
There’s also a 50MP Leica ultra-wide camera, while selfies are handled by a 50MP front-facing camera.
Keeping the lights on is a 7,000mAh Xiaomi battery with 32% silicon content. It supports 100W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro also gets IP66, IP68 and IP69-rated dust and water resistance, UWB connectivity and a dual-speaker stereo audio setup. It runs Xiaomi HyperOS 4 out of the box.
In China, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is offered in Black, White, Ice Peach Pink and Galaxy Blue. There is also a red Transparent Edition.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max specs and features
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is the range-topping model with a more powerful processor, larger display and bigger battery.
Up front it gets a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display with a 2624×1208 resolution and refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It also offers up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness and Xiaomi’s hardware-level Privacy Display.
Its rear display is also larger at 2.9 inches, with a 976×596 resolution and refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Like the smaller Pro, it supports app cards and AI-generated cards.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is powered by Qualcomm’s higher-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, also manufactured on a 2nm process. It is offered with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
For imaging, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max gets the same Leica triple-camera setup as the Pro model. It has a 200MP main camera using a 1/1.28-inch sensor, f/1.67 aperture and OIS, a 200MP periscope telephoto camera using a 1/1.56-inch sensor with 3.2x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide shooter, while the front gets a 50MP selfie camera.
The Pro Max packs a significantly larger 8,500mAh battery, while retaining 100W fast wired and 50W wireless charging.
Unlike the smaller Pro, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max gets a triple-speaker (two down-firing + one top-firing) setup. Other features include UWB, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and Xiaomi HyperOS 4.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is offered in Black, White, Ice Peach Pink and Galaxy Blue in China, together with a red Transparent Edition.

It has been a while since Xiaomi introduced their “Pro” flagship smartphones in Malaysia. Early this year, the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max were skipped for Malaysia, leaving us with the standard Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
Due to the current RAM and storage shortage, expect these Xiaomi Pro series flagship smartphones to launch locally starting from over RM4,000. As a reference, this year’s standard Xiaomi 17 with 12GB RAM + 512GB storage was priced from RM3,799 back in March.
