SIRIM recorded a 48% increase in demand for its testing, certification, calibration, and training services over the past year.
This represents a clear shift from the previous year’s 7% growth rate, as companies face stricter compliance requirements to access domestic and export markets.
Higher demand across testing, training, and commercial orders

The organisation served 28,700 clients during the period, while its training programmes reached nearly 25,000 industry personnel. This included more than 23,000 Bumiputera entrepreneurs and workers.
Despite the higher workload, customer satisfaction remained above 90%. Financially, SIRIM saw its total order book grow from RM12.1 million to RM28 million.
National industrial policies driving compliance requirements

The increased activity is closely linked to federal industrial policies, including the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK13).
These policy frameworks prioritise sectors such as electrical and electronics, energy, smart manufacturing, aerospace, chemicals, alongside oil and gas.
SIRIM President and Group Chief Executive Officer Nik Sazali Nik Hussin noted that verifiable compliance has become mandatory for market entry.
He stated that SIRIM is digitalising operations to shorten processing times from weeks to days, enabling companies to launch and export products faster.
Faster processing times and RM474 million in funding

To support these industrial programmes, SIRIM received RM474.39 million in development funding, which includes RM300 million under the NIMP Industrial Development Fund.
In 2025, operational updates reduced processing times by up to 98 per cent in targeted test categories.
Turnaround times for electrical equipment and safety products also dropped by four to seven days.
In addition, SIRIM is expanding local testing capacity for high growth sectors including electric vehicles, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, medical devices, and ESG reporting.
