Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the Volvo EX30 Cross Country. This is the more rugged version of its compact electric SUV.
This locally assembled electric SUV gets a dual-motor AWD setup and it features an increased ground clearance.
In addition, Volvo Car Malaysia has also streamlined the standard EX30 range for Model Year 2027. The EX30 is now offered only in an Ultra Single Motor model and it is now priced at RM10,000 lower than before.

The Volvo EX30 lineup in Peninsular Malaysia is now priced as follows.
- Volvo EX30 Ultra Single P5 RWD – RM198,888
- Volvo EX30 Cross Country P8 AWD – RM218,888
For the EX30 Cross Country, Volvo is offering an early bird launch package for the first 100 reservations. This includes a RM12,000 cash rebate, along with a complimentary Volvo Wallbox, load carriers and roof basket.
In terms of colours, the EX30 Cross Country is offered in Crystal White, Vapour Grey and Cloud Blue. Meanwhile, the EX30 Ultra is offered in the same three colours plus Onyx Black.
Volvo EX30 Cross Country Specs and Features
The EX30 Cross Country is effectively the rugged and performance-focused AWD version of the EX30 with additional changes aimed at rougher road conditions.
Its dual-motor setup produces 315kW (422hp), allowing it to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 180km/h.
It uses a 69kWh NMC battery with 65kWh of usable capacity. Volvo quotes an energy consumption figure of 18.3kWh per 100km and a WLTP driving range of up to 437km.
For comparison, the rear-wheel-drive EX30 Ultra produces 200kW (268hp) and 343Nm, while having a 0-100km/h time of 5.3 seconds. The single motor version also offers a longer WLTP-rated range of up to 475km.
For DC fast charging, the EX30 can charge from 10-80% in 27 minutes using a 175kW DC charger. It also supports three-phase 11kW AC charging, with a quoted 0-100% charging time of eight hours.
Compared to the standard EX30, the Cross Country sits 19mm higher and gets revised chassis tuning. Volvo says its steering software has also been fine-tuned for steering torque build-up, active return and damping.
Visually, the Cross Country gets low-gloss Vapour Grey skid plates, matte black lower bumpers and wheel arch extensions, along with a Cross Country nameplate on the C-pillar and an embossed CC logo at the rear.
It rides on 19-inch five-spoke glossy black diamond-cut wheels wrapped with 245/45 R19 tyres.
Inside, the Malaysian-spec EX30 Cross Country gets an Indigo interior with textile and Nordico upholstery, along with denim decor and blue air vent panels. It also comes with a panoramic sunroof.
As with the EX30 Ultra, the Cross Country gets a 12.3-inch centre display with Google services built in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system.
Volvo Connect Plus, over-the-air updates, wireless phone charging and Digital Key Plus are included as standard.
Driver assistance equipment includes Pilot Assist, Lane Keeping Aid, Blind Spot Information System with Steer Assist, Collision Avoidance and Mitigation, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Door Opening Alert. It also gets Park Pilot Assist and a 360-degree camera with 3D View.
The EX30 boot has 318 litres capacity which can be expanded up to 718 litres when the second row is folded. There’s also a small frunk under the bonnet which can store smaller items.
Like the regular EX30 sold in Malaysia, the EX30 Cross Country comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage vehicle warranty and an eight-year or 160,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery.
