Nothing Ear (3a) with Audio Snapshot recording feature arrives in Malaysia for RM399

Nothing has officially confirmed local availability details for its latest wireless earbuds, the Nothing Ear (3a).

Expanding the brand’s personal audio lineup, the Ear (3a) brings unique built-in recording capabilities alongside upgraded audio hardware, improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and a refreshed charging case. Pre-orders for local buyers are now live.

Nothing Ear (3a) pricing and availability in Malaysia

The Nothing Ear (3a) is officially priced at RM399 in Malaysia. It will be available in four colour options: Yellow, Pink, Black, and White.

Online pre-orders for the earbuds open now via the official Nothing Malaysia Store, as well as through its official storefronts on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.

Official open sales begin on 20 September 2026, where the Ear (3a) will also be available at authorized physical retailers, including the Nothing Image Store, TMT, and Urban Republic.

Audio Snapshot and Call Recording

The standout addition to the Ear (3a) is 32MB of onboard flash storage, which powers a new feature called “Audio Snapshot”. By pinching both earbud stems simultaneously, users can record ambient audio moments directly to the earbuds without reaching for their smartphone.

The feature captures up to one minute of audio, which includes the 30 seconds before the trigger was activated, ensuring users never miss the moment they wanted to save.

Additionally, the built-in storage introduces a Call Recording feature. Users can record phone calls and meetings for up to two hours directly from the earbuds, while participants are alerted via a privacy notification.

Both Audio Snapshots and Call Recordings automatically sync to the Nothing X app, where they can be replayed, edited, transcribed, or turned into shareable quote cards.

Audio performance, ANC, and battery life

Audio performance is driven by a custom 12mm dynamic driver with an aerospace-inspired PMI diaphragm, which Nothing claims delivers bass frequencies up to 5dB stronger than its predecessor. The earbuds are Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified and support LDAC audio streaming at up to 24-bit/96kHz.

For noise reduction, the Ear (3a) offers up to 45dB of Wideband Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). It features an Adaptive ANC mode that automatically adjusts the level of noise cancellation based on the user’s surroundings, alongside a Static Spatial Audio mode for immersive 3D sound playback. Voice calls are kept clear using three microphones on each bud paired with AI-powered noise reduction.

In terms of design, the earbuds retain Nothing’s transparent aesthetic but introduce a redesigned, pill-shaped charging case. The case now features a refined 1×3 LED status light to indicate battery and pairing levels. Furthermore, Nothing has included a new XS ear tip option for better fitment. Both the earbuds and the charging case carry an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.

For connectivity, the Ear (3a) runs on Bluetooth 6.0 with Dual Connection support, allowing it to stay connected to two devices simultaneously. It also features ChatGPT integration when paired with a compatible Nothing smartphone.

Battery life is rated at up to 10 hours on the earbuds alone with ANC disabled, expanding to a total of 42 hours when paired with the charging case. With ANC enabled, users can expect up to 6 hours on the earbuds and 25 hours total. If you are in a rush, a quick 5-minute charge will provide approximately one hour of playback.
