Omoda C7 PHEV now open for booking with an estimated price of RM180,000

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia (OJMY) has opened the order books for the Omoda C7 PHEV ahead of its expected Malaysian release in Q4 this year. The new model is set to become OJMY’s 3rd PHEV offering after J7 PHEV and C9 PHEV.

OJMY has also revealed that the estimated price tag for the C7 PHEV is RM180,000 – thus, positioning the new model between the Jaecoo J7 PHEV and Omoda C9 PHEV. Similar to the two PHEV models, the C9 PHEV will be locally assembled (CKD) at Chery Corporate Malaysia’s plant in Seksyen 22, Shah Alam.

Omoda C7 PHEV Quick Specs

Like other PHEVs in OJMY’s stable, the Omoda C7 PHEV is powered by a Super Hybrid System (SHS) powertrain. It features a 115kW (154hp) turbocharged 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that also produces 220Nm together with a 150kW (201hp) electric motor that generates 310Nm of torque.

Together, they can deliver maximum power output of 265kW (355hp) and 530Nm of torque. The setup allows the C9 PHEV to hit 0-100km/h in 8.5s, although the hybrid SUV’s top speed was not revealed.

Completing the SHS setup on the C7 PHEV is an 18.3kWh LFP battery which enabled it to deliver 95km of pure electric range. While the charging speed and fuel tank capacity of the Malaysia-spec unit are still unknown, OJ claimed that the SUV can hit a combined range of up to 1,250km.

The C7 PHEV shares plenty of external aesthetic design with its petrol counterpart, including the sharknose front, hexagonal pattern on its grille, red brake callipers, and lightning bolt taillight pattern. However, the Malaysia-spec C7 PHEV is fitted with 20-inch wheels instead of 19-inch as per the petrol variant of the C7.

Inside, you can spot nubuck leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a 50W ventilated wireless charger, and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. C7 PHEV has also been fitted with a 15.6-inch infotainment screen that can be slid to the passenger side, which is unique, although this feature may have led to the absence of the glove box.

Another interesting feature that the C7 PHEV has is its 12 + 2-speaker Sony audio system. The “+ 2” is actually the 2 smaller surround speakers that are located inside the driver’s headrest.
