Energizer Malaysia has introduced the Ultimate Child Shield, a new line of coin lithium batteries specifically engineered to prevent internal burns if accidentally swallowed.
The new batteries are offered in sizes 2032, 2025, and 2016, which are the standard sizes used to power everyday household devices such as car key fobs, remote controls, AirTags, and toys.
The danger of standard coin batteries

A standard 20mm coin lithium battery shares a similar diameter with a young child’s oesophagus, making it highly susceptible to getting lodged if ingested.
Once stuck, an active battery can trigger a chemical reaction that causes severe internal burns in as little as 15 minutes, leading to life-threatening injuries within hours.
Because symptoms of battery ingestion are often absent or easily misdiagnosed as minor illnesses, caregivers frequently miss the critical window for immediate medical intervention.
How the Ultimate Child Shield works

To mitigate this growing safety hazard, the Energizer Ultimate Child Shield batteries feature a proprietary design that stops internal burning from occurring after ingestion.
Alongside the burn prevention technology, the batteries incorporate a Colour Alert feature that reacts with saliva to dye the mouth blue. This provides an immediate visual warning to parents and caregivers that a battery has been swallowed, prompting swift medical action.

Furthermore, the batteries are treated with a non-toxic bitter coating to deter children from keeping them in their mouths and are sold in strict child-resistant packaging.
Pricing and availability in Malaysia

The Energizer Ultimate Child Shield coin lithium batteries are priced at RM15.90 for a two-pack, regardless of whether you choose the CR2032, CR2025, or CR2016 size.
They are currently available for purchase at selected retailers nationwide. Energizer Malaysia will also showcase the new battery range at upcoming local baby expos, including the TCE Baby Expo at MITEC from 2 to 4 October 2026 and the TCE Baby Expo at Mid Valley Megamall from 3 to 6 December 2026.
