Facebook has introduced Facebook Verified, a new, free feature designed to confirm that there is a real human being behind a profile. Using a simple video selfie process, this initiative aims to restore trust and authenticity on the platform amidst the ever-growing AI-generated content and accounts.
Meta Verified is a paid monthly subscription aimed primarily at online content creators and businesses looking for impersonation protection across Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook Verified is a completely free option built for everyday users. Its sole purpose is to provide a clear, visible signal that a personal profile belongs to a real person without requiring any subscription fee.
The verification process takes just a few minutes from start to finish. You begin by recording a short video selfie, which Facebook matches against your existing profile photos to confirm your identity.
To qualify, users must be at least 18 years old, exhibit no inauthentic behavior, and maintain good standing with Meta’s Community Standards, particularly those prohibiting fraud and scams.
Keep in mind that Facebook Verified is currently exclusive to standard personal accounts, meaning it is not available for Pages or Professional Mode (ProMode) accounts.
Once verified, a small black tick inside a black circle will appear alongside your name across key areas where genuine interaction matters most. You will see this badge displayed on Facebook Marketplace listings, Facebook Dating profiles, Facebook Groups, and standard profile views.
Meta also plans to expand the badge’s presence to main Feed posts in upcoming updates.
Not quite yet. Meta has confirmed that Facebook Verified is rolling out in phases, starting in select initial markets. Malaysian users will need to wait a little longer as the global rollout expands.
