Samsung has officially teased a new pair of AI-powered smart glasses developed together with Google, positioning the wearable as a potential competitor to the popular Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.
Revealed as part of Samsung’s Android XR lineup, the upcoming intelligent eyewear combines lightweight glasses-style hardware with Google’s Gemini AI assistant.
Unlike bulky mixed reality headsets, Samsung says the device is designed to look and feel more like conventional eyewear while offering hands-free AI experiences including live translation, navigation, messaging, contextual assistance and voice interactions.
The new wearable is designed to work seamlessly within the Galaxy ecosystem to help users manage their everyday tasks or capture photos without taking their phone out of their pocket.
According to Samsung, the smart glasses are designed around Android XR, Google’s platform for extended reality devices. Samsung says the wearable is built to provide “multimodal AI” experiences that can understand what users see and hear in real time.
Samsung also revealed partnerships with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, suggesting a stronger focus on everyday wearable designs.
Some of the demonstrated features shown by Samsung and Google include real-time translation, navigation assistance, voice-based Gemini AI assistance, hands-free photo capture, messaging support and contextual AI responses based on the user’s surroundings. Google had even demonstrated the ability to order food delivery directly from the glasses via Gemini.
At the moment, Samsung has not disclosed the device’s official product name, hardware specifications, battery life, pricing or launch timeline for our region.
