Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has officially opened the order books for its upcoming high-performance EV models, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N. Taking place at the opening day of Penang Autoshow 2026, the company has also revealed the estimated pricing for both models, which will mark the official arrival of the Hyundai N brand in Malaysia.
Specifically, the estimated starting price for the Ioniq 5 N is RM450,000, while the Ioniq 6 N’s estimated price is slightly more at RM460,000, with both of them expected to make their way to Malaysia within Q2 this year. The Ioniq 5 N is currently available for viewing during Penang Autoshow 2026, which is happening at Penang Waterfront Convention Centre throughout this weekend.
In case you didn’t know, the Ioniq 5 N was the winner of the SoyaCincau Awards 2024 EV of the Year. During Malaysia’s first open-to-public EV track day, the SoyaCincau EV Clinic: Track Edition at Sepang International Circuit last September, the high-performance electric SUV showed what it could do straight out of the box as SoyaCincau’s Co-Founder and CEO Amin Ashaari managed to record a best lap of 2:37.991.
Meanwhile, HMY also took the opportunity to reveal the 1st 3 authorised Hyundai N dealers in Malaysia:
More Hyundai N authorised dealers will be announced in due course, according to HMY. As Hyundai N models are built-to-order, the company has encouraged customers to place their Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N bookings early in order to get their hands on the high-performance EV as soon as possible.
They may have different physical designs, but the Hyundai Ioniq 6N and Ioniq 5 N share many similarities – at least when it comes to their performance figures. Equipped with an all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, both Ioniq 6 N and 5 N have maximum power output of 478kW (641hp) alongside 770Nm of torque.
The setup allows the Ioniq 6 N to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.2 seconds, while the Ioniq 5 N’s century sprint timing is slightly slower at 3.4 seconds. Powered by the same 84kWh NMC battery, the Ioniq 6 N has a WLTP-rated range of 487km, while the Ioniq 5 N’s range is listed as 448km.
These differences were generally due to their design since the Ioniq 6 N has a more rounded exterior, and this made the electric sedan more aerodynamic than the boxy Ioniq 5 N. As per their non-N twins, they still feature 800V architecture, which made it possible for them to support a DC charging speed of up to 350kW.
Aside from massive power output, other features that made both N models stand out in the EV world include the N e-Shift, which simulates an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, including the “jolt” feeling that happens during gear shifts. There is also the N Active Sound+ option that allows you to turn on artificial engine and gear shifting sounds through several internal and external speakers.
You can also activate a 10-second burst of maximum power through the N Grin Boost button. Owners also have access to the N Drift Optimiser that can help them execute drifts in a controlled manner.
