First announced in 2022, Apple has finally rolled out Tap to Pay on iPhone in Malaysia. This feature essentially allows merchants to easily transform an iPhone into an NFC contactless payment terminal without additional hardware.
Tap to Pay on iPhone supports MyDebit, Visa, and Mastercard as well as American Express, UnionPay, and JCB. Merchants can even use it to accept contactless payments from non-Apple smartphones and wearables – not just iPhone and Apple Watch.
On a related note, Apple is already working to implement Tap to Pay in iPhone for checkout at Apple The Exchange TRX, which is the only Apple Store in Malaysia at the moment.
For merchants who are interested in implementing Tap to Pay on iPhone for their businesses, all you need to do is just sign up with payment service providers that support it and download their iOS app on the iPhone.
