Perodua QV-E receives “healthy interest” nationwide

From what we saw, the QV-E has garnered mixed reactions from the public, especially towards its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) approach, which has masked the EV’s true price tag of over RM100,000. Despite that, it appears that the automaker has received positive feedback from its customers:

“We have received healthy interest from potential customers from across the country, and we are now expanding our reach to include more locations so that our customers can book test drives and reserve their very own Perodua QV-E,” – Zainal Abidin Ahmad, President and CEO, Perodua.

That being said, Perodua has not yet revealed the number of bookings that it has received for the new EV so far. On a related note, he also stated that customers can now book the new EV manually, in addition to digital booking via the P-Circle app.

Perodua clarifies QV-E’s battery monthly fee

Meanwhile, the national automaker also took the opportunity to address the monthly fee for the QV-E’s BaaS service. Prior to this, we were told that the fee is RM275 per month, but not inclusive of 8% sales and service tax.

In today’s announcement, the company said that the battery subscription is RM275 per month ALL-IN, including tax, for 108 months (9 years). Perodua pointed out that the capped subscription to RM275 is to ensure customers are protected from future price hikes.

In addition to that, Perodua has also reiterated through a set of new infographics that QV-E owners do not have to pay the monthly fee after the 9-year contract is over if they continue using the battery. However, if a new battery is needed later, they would need to restart the contract for RM275/month.

Based on the infographics, Perodua appears to be confident that the battery’s State of Health (SoH) will be above 70% for over 9 years. Of course, this is subject to the user’s mileage and charging habits.
