TQ Wuling Bingo EV is now officially available in Malaysia, seven months after it was first announced for our market. The new compact electric hatchback is essentially the second true sub-RM100k EV in Malaysia after its close rival, the Proton e.MAS 5.

The launch of Bingo also marked TQ Wuling’s entry into the EV and passenger car markets in Malaysia. That being said, the company, which was born through a collaboration between Tan Chong Motor and SAIC-GM-Wuling, is already looking to expand its offering very soon.

TQ Wuling Bingo Malaysia Pricing

TQ Wuling Bingo can be obtained in two variants in Malaysia:

  • TQ Wuling Bingo Pro: RM62,800
  • TQ Wuling Bingo Max: RM67,800

The pricing above is already inclusive of the RM5,000 launch rebate for the first 500 customers. Before you ask: Yes, all the pricing mentioned here COVERS the EV’s battery as well.

Aside from the RM5,000 launch rebate, the first 500 customers will also be provided with a 7kW home charger, a portable 3-pin charger, and a premium tinting package. There is also a special EV-focused insurance perk and monthly instalment rates from as low as RM625 per month.

Customers can book the Bingo through TQ Wuling Malaysia’s official website with a refundable booking fee of RM50. At the moment, you can check out the new EV at 5 TQ Wuling showrooms around Peninsular Malaysia, including Glenmarie, Jalan Raja Laut KL, OUG KL, Melati Utama KL, Butterworth Penang, and Johor Jaya, with more to be opened in the near future.

TQ Wuling Bingo Malaysia Colourways, Warranty

For Malaysia, the Bingo can be obtained in several colourways, including Milky White and Neon Blue, as well as Lavender Purple, which is exclusive to the Max variant. Regardless of the exterior colour that you choose, all Bingo for the Malaysian market feature a black roof, and Caramel Latte interior colourway.

As for warranty, the Bingo is covered by a 5-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty. There is also a separate 8-year / 120,000km warranty for its high-voltage battery and an 8-year / 160,000km warranty for the electric motor.

TQ Wuling Bingo Malaysia Quick Specs

You might not be able to tell from the outside, but the Bingo is actually a 4-seater EV since there is no centre seat belt for the rear passengers. It didn’t really come as a surprise for us, though, given that the Bingo is physically smaller than the Proton e.MAS 5.

Here’s a quick comparison of their dimensions:

TQ Wuling Bingo vs Proton e.MAS 5
TQ Wuling Bingo (L) vs Proton e.MAS 5 (R).

TQ Wuling Bingo EV

  • 4-seater EV
  • Dimensions: 3,905mm (length) x 1,708mm (width) x 1,580mm (height)
  • Wheelbase: 2,560mm
  • Boot Space: 395L – 1,240L
  • Frunk Space: N/A
  • Kerb Weight: 1,125kg (Pro) / 1,185kg (Max)

Proton e.MAS 5

  • 5-seater EV
  • Dimensions: 4,135mm x 1,805mm x 1,580mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,650mm
  • Boot Space: 375L – 1,320L
  • Frunk Space: 70L
  • Kerb Weight: 1,230kg (Pro) / 1,305kg (Max)

If TQ Wuling need some extra points to go against Proton, they can highlight that the Bingo’s side mirrors can be folded electronically unlike e.MAS 5. But of course, the e.MAS 5 offers power boot which is not available on the Bingo.

In terms of performance, the Bingo is equipped with a 50kW motor that also produces 150Nm of torque. The 0-50km/h and 0-100km/h figures for the Malaysian variant were not revealed, but we were told that the EV can reach a top speed of around 130km/h.

Being a front-wheel drive vehicle, the Bingo does not come with a frunk. Again, this didn’t surprise us, although the motor bay appeared to have enough space for one.

The biggest differentiator between the two Bingo variants for Malaysia is the capacity of their LFP-based Magic battery, which also affects their range.

Specifically, the Bingo Pro comes with a 31.9kWh battery, which allows it to deliver a CLTC-rated range of 333km or around 270km of WLTP-estimated range. As for the higher-end Bingo Max, it has been fitted with a 37.9kWh battery pack and is capable of delivering a CLTC-rated range of 410km or around 335km of WLTP-estimated range.

When it comes to charging, both Bingo variants support a DC charging speed of 50kW, which allows their battery to reach 30% to 80% in less than 35 minutes. They also support AC charging speed of 7kW, which allows the Pro variant to be fully charged in 4.5 hours or 5.5 hours for the Max variant.

Unfortunately, we were informed that Bingo does not have the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, which would enable owners to utilise the high-voltage battery to power external appliances. V2L feature is synonymous with EVs from Chinese manufacturers, so it is indeed odd to see that it is missing from Bingo.

Despite its entry-level nature, it seems that the SGMW team that worked on Bingo still care about its aesthetics and has put some effort to implement several interesting design elements throughout the EV. Among them are the X-shaped LED running lights and taillights, as well as the stylish-looking interior.

Speaking about the interior, the dashboard is generally made of soft leatherette panel alongside glossy ceramic-like plastic around the infotainment display, physical climate control knobs, and air-conditioning vents.  The Bingo also features a floating island-style centre console which open up the area between the driver and front passenger while its seats are covered with leatherette upholstery.

There is also a pair of 10.25-inch digital displays inside Bingo. One of them acts as digital instrument cluster while the other one is used by the infotainment system which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

There are couple of things that do reveal Bingo’s entry-level positioning such as the lack of telescoping steering wheel as well as electric seat controls for the front passenger. Equipped with McPherson strut on the front and torsion beam at the back, the EV also comes with 15-inch steel wheels and wheel covers alongside Linglong Green-Max HP010 185/60 tyres.

At the same time, there is no Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) on the Bingo as well. You do get several rudimentary features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Auto-hold, Blind Spot Warning, Low Speed Pedestrian Alarm, rear parking sensor, reverse camera, ISOFIX points, and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

That being said, there is one safety feature that is unique to our market. At the moment, only Bingo for the Malaysian market comes with 6 airbags as opposed to just 2 airbags in other markets.
