BYD Seal 6 EV is now officially available in Malaysia. This is the first time that the electric sedan is released outside of China.
As per what we have reported numerous times before, the Seal 6 EV for the Malaysia and other international markets is not the same version that was released in China. Instead, ours was actually known as Qin L EV over there – a different model but shared so many similarities with the Chinese Domestic Market’s (CDM) variant of Seal 6 EV.
So, don’t be shocked if you Google for Seal 6 EV and see the CDM version which features the same front design as per the Seal that is available in Malaysia. The front design of the Seal 6 EV for the international market is closer to the design that was also used on Atto 2 (Yuan Up) and Atto 3 (Yuan Plus) – something almost all BYD Dynasty series models, just like the Qin L EV, have in common.
BYD Seal 6 EV Malaysia Pricing, Colourway, Warranty
For Malaysia, the new Seal 6 EV can be obtained in two variants. Here they are, alongside their Malaysian pricings:
- BYD Seal 6 EV Premium:RM115,800
- BYD Seal 6 EV Dynamic: RM100,000
There are three colours to choose from, including Arctic White, Misty Blue, and Harbour Grey. For interior colour, all Seal 6 EV in Malaysia comes in Black and Grey.
In terms of warranty, the Seal 6 EV is covered by a 6-year / 150,000km vehicle warranty. There is also a separate 8-year / 160,000km warranty for its drive unit and high-voltage battery.
BYD Seal 6 EV Malaysia Launch Package
To celebrate the launch, BYD Sime Motors is offering the Seal 6 EV Launch Package. The perks that early adopters of Seal 6 EV get to enjoy depend on the variant that they choose.
Premium customers with landed properties will get to enjoy a RM3,000 rebate, while those living in high-rise properties will get a RM1,000 rebate. Premium customers with high-rise properties will also receive the 12-month Sime Platinum 4+ package by Power Up Malaysia.
Under this package, customers will be entitled to 4 x mobile DC charging right at their doorstep. The package also includes 2x car detailing service per month and 2x free EV rescue service per year. That being said, the Sime Platinum 4+ package is only available in selected areas.
The Seal 6 EV Launch Package also provides a free Wall Charger for both Dynamic and Premium customers. However, do note that this offer is limited to the first 800 customers.
BYD Seal 6 EV Malaysia Quick Specs
Regardless of the variant that you choose, the Seal 6 EV in Malaysia is equipped with a rear-wheel drive (RWD). However, one of the main differences between the Premium and Dynamic variants is performance.
Specifically, the Seal 6 EV Premium comes with a 160kW (215hp) motor that also produces 330Nm of torque. This variant can go from 0 to 100km/h in 7.5 seconds, while it also has a top speed of 180km/h.
The Seal 6 EV Premium also comes with several exclusive features, such as:
- Ventilated front seats
- Electronic controls for the front passenger seat
- 8-way electronic controls for driver’s seat
- 8-speaker audio system
- Panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade
On the other hand, the Seal 6 EV Dynamic features a 95kW motor with 220Nm of torque. With a 0 to 100km/h timing of 10.9 seconds, this variant can reach a top speed of 160km/h.
For those who are wondering about the EV road tax that you may have to pay starting in 2026, the amount will be RM180 per year for the Seal 6 EV Premium. For the Seal 6 EV Dynamic, the road tax will be much lower at just RM60 per year.
Interestingly enough, both Seal 6 EV Premium and Dynamic have been fitted with the same 56.64kWh BYD Blade LFP battery. Not only that, the specs sheet that BYD Sime Motors provided to us stated that both Seat 6 EV variants have the same NEDC-rated range of 485km, which is equivalent to 412km when converted to WLTP.
