PSA: RM100 SARA cash aid programme does NOT utilise TNG feature on MyKad

A portal recently posted a guide implying that the upcoming SARA programme will be disbursed using the MyKad’s built-in Touch ‘n Go card feature. The post recommends users to check the MyKad’s TNG balance either by linking it to TNG eWallet, TNG portal or manually through the kiosks to find out if the RM100 cash aid has been credited.

We have reached out to TNG Digital for clarification and they have confirmed that this is not true. A representative informed us that Touch ‘n Go is not involved in the SARA programme, which was recently announced by the Prime Minister.

To recap, the Malaysian government announced that all Malaysian adults (18 years old and above) will receive a one-off RM100 cash aid to buy groceries at over 4,100 stores nationwide. Eligible individuals can redeem the one-off RM100 cash aid using their MyKad (NRIC) from 31st August 2025 to 31st December 2025. The initiative will benefit 22 million individuals with an estimated total cost of over RM2 billion.

Based on what we have confirmed with TNG Digital, the RM100 won’t be credited to your TNG card or eWallet balance.

[ UPDATE 26/07/2025 ]: Here’s how to redeem your RM100 SARA (Sumbangan Asas Rahmah) Cash Aid

Besides the RM100 Sara cash aid, the government has announced a price reduction for RON 95 petrol from RM2.05 to RM1.99 per litre. This lower subsidised price will only be offered to Malaysians with a MyKad. The full details including the mechanism to enjoy the lower RM1.99 per litre rate is expected to be finalised by end of September 2025.
