The global launch of the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design is happening tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur. Besides the tri-fold foldable smartphone, the Chinese tech giant has teased a new open-ear style headphones called the Huawei FreeArc and it looks different from the previous Huawei FreeClip.

According to the teaser, the Huawei FreeArc is an open-ear earbuds which provides all-day comfort and secure fit. With this design, you can listen to your music while being aware of your surroundings. At first glance, the new earbuds look like a hearing aid as it hooks around your ear and it comes in three colours – white, green and black.

For better durability, the FreeArc is also water and sweat resistant with an IP57 rating.

Interestingly, the FreeArc was recently revealed in Japan with an official price tag of JPY 18,800 (about RM550). According to the details released so far, the FreeArc earbuds feature a 17x12mm driver unit and it has a dual microphone setup for wind noise cancellation during voice calls.

So far, there’s no mention of any active noise cancellation, but it is said that the open-ear earbuds offer up to 28 hours of battery life inclusive of the charging case. It is said that a quick 10-minute charge can provide 3 hours of music playback.

Stay tuned for more details from the official launch tomorrow. Besides the Huawei Mate XT and FreeArc, Huawei Malaysia is also launching its Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2″ tablet.
