Time is now offering WiFi 7 routers and mesh nodes for its fibre broadband plan contract. WiFi 7 is the latest WiFi standard that promises to offer higher throughput, lower latency and greater reliability. It is currently offered for free if you sign up for Time’s 600Mbps and 1Gbps home fibre broadband plans.
The free WiFi 7 router is offered on a 24-month contract for its 600Mbps plan which costs RM139/month. As part of its current promo, you can enjoy a lower RM99/month subscription fee for the first 6 months. The 600Mbps fibre plan offers symmetrical speeds at 600Mbps for both upload and download.
Meanwhile, Time offers a free WiFi 7 router and a WiFi 7 Mesh (worth RM399) if you sign up for the 1Gbps home fibre plan on a 24-month contract. The 1Gbps plan is priced at RM199/month and it offers 1Gbps for download and 500Mbps for upload.
The other two plans – 200Mbps (RM99/month) and 2Gbps (RM379/month), are still bundled with WiFi 6 routers. If you subscribe to the 600Mbps and 1Gbps plan on a shorter 12-month or no-contract option, you’ll also be provided with WiFi 6 routers as well.
According to the FAQ, existing Time subscribers with a tenure of 20 months or more, can get the WiFi 7 router for free if you upgrade your internet plan to 1Gbps. From the looks of it, Time is using the Huawei HG8145B7N router for its WiFi 7 offering and it is a 2-in-1 device that combines a router and Optical Network Unit (ONU).
Add extra WiFi 7 Mesh nodes from RM19/month
To enjoy the full potential of WiFi 7, it is recommended that you switch to newer hardware that can support WiFi 7. If you need to expand the WiFi coverage at home, Time is also allowing users to add more WiFi 7 Mesh nodes from RM19/month.
According to their device page, you can add a single WiFi 7 mesh node at RM19/month, two nodes at RM35/month and three notes at RM47/month.
