Huawei MateBook X Pro Malaysia: Powerful sub-1kg laptop now open for pre-orders

Huawei has announced their latest laptop, the MateBook X Pro. This ultraportable takes the concept of a thin-and-light laptop to its extreme, weighing in at just 980g and measuring a mere 13.5mm thin, while still being able to pack up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor under the hood.

The MateBook X Pro manages to retain its magnesium alloy body too despite shedding all the weight, complete with a matte finish. To reduce its weight down to under 1kg, Huawei not only used a modular PCB design and lighter components, but also switched to a flexible OLED panel for its display. This 14.2-inch flexible OLED screen pushes a 3120 x 2080p resolution, with 10-bit colour and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, as well as a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,000nits.

Under the hood, the MateBook X Pro comes with your choice between the Intel Core Ultra 7 or the Core Ultra 9, with the former mated to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage while the latter gets 32GB of RAM and 2TB of storage. These Meteor Lake chips also offer Intel Arc integrated graphics, and the laptop comes with Windows 11 Home out of the box. Huawei adds that with a top TDP of 40W, the MateBook X Pro will be able to ramp up performance as and when needed.

As for I/O, you don’t actually get much here due to how thin it is, with the MateBook X Pro offering a USB-C port on the right side and two more Thunderbolt 4 ports on the left; there’s also support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless connectivity with a 3D Metaline antenna for signal reception up to 330 meters away. Other features of note include a 70Wh battery with 90W fast charging, a new Huawei Free Touch pressure-sensing touchpad, a six-speaker setup, a fingerprint sensor on the power button and a backlit keyboard with 1.5mm key travel.

If you’re keen on the MateBook X Pro yourself, you can already pre-order it from Huawei Malaysia from today until 12 May. Simply head over to the Huawei Malaysia website or their official Lazada store and place a deposit of RM70 during the pre-order timeframe, and you’ll also get free gifts worth up to RM4,582 once your laptop arrives. These free gifts include a Huawei MatePad 11″ PaperMatte Edition, a Huawei MatePad Smart Keyboard, a Huawei M-Pencil 2nd Gen, a Bluetooth mouse, a copy of Microsoft 365, a backpack, a laptop stand and a 1+1 year Huawei extended warranty. Do note though that you will have to pay the balance amount once the price of the MateBook X Pro in Malaysia is revealed.
