IPC Shopping Centre reverts its EV chargers to 22kW, offers free charging vouchers

The IPC Shopping Centre is dedicating the whole of April to electric vehicles by hosting the Grön (Swedish for green) Wheel EV Month. To kick things off, the mall has reverted its EV chargers from 11kW back to 22kW once again.

22kW setup benefits many EVs out there

In case you missed it, IPC first turned on its AC chargers which are located at the P2 floor of the mall’s basement parking last August. When they were officially launched a month later, the mall somehow decided to tune them down to 11kW.

The 22kW configuration allows EVs with single-phase 7kW AC onboard charger (OBC) such as BYD Atto 3, Dolphin, and Seal to take proper advantage of IPC’s EV chargers. As noted in our EV Guide below, these EVs can only support a 3kW charging rate on 11kW AC chargers.

Naturally, the new setting also enables EVs with a three-phase 11kW or 22kW OBC to be charged at a much faster speed than before.

IPC is giving away free charging vouchers

Aside from the upgraded setup, IPC is also giving away 2 hours’ worth of free EV charging vouchers daily throughout this week. All you got to do is be one of the first 30 EV owners to show your Tack Club membership inside the IPC mobile app to the i-Counter.

On the other hand, IPC has also reduced the required Tack Points to obtain 30 minutes of free charging. Before this, the requirement was 100 points but you can now have it with just 50 points which you can get by charging your EV at IPC chargers for 30 minutes.

In case you are confused, here’s an example: if you charge your EV at IPC for 60 minutes, you will receive 100 Tack Points. You can then take them and then redeem another hour of charging directly through the IPC app.

As for the charging fee, it is still the same though. At the moment, it currently costs RM7.00 per 30 minutes to utilise IPC’s EV chargers on top of the mall’s standard parking fee.
