Vivo has launched their latest smartphone in Malaysia, the Vivo Y100. This entry level 5G smartphone has quite a lot going for it, such as a large, high refresh rate AMOLED display, a new processor and speedy 80W fast charging complete with a relatively premium looking design.

The Vivo Y100 5G has already been made available in Malaysia with just a single configuration packing 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, priced at RM1,199. In conjunction with the launch of the new smartphone, Vivo will be giving all early bird buyers free gifts worth RM298 such as wireless earbuds and extended warranty if they purchase the Vivo Y100 5G by 28 March. Vivo Y100 5G specs
The Vivo Y100 5G features a large 6.67-inch, AMOLED display, pushing a 2400 x 1080p resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. The display is also capable of a peak brightness of 1,800nits, and has full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut too. Vivo claims that the Y100 5G has a leather-like, anti-stain coating over it for additional scratch, along with an IP54 dust and water resistance rating.
Under the hood is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, an entry level 4nm system-on-chip introduced back in June last year that offers two Cortex-A78 performance cores and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. That gets mated to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with expandable external storage of up to 1TB also possible. The Vivo Y100 5G runs Android 14 out of the box, skinned with Funtouch OS 14 over it.
In the camera department meanwhile, the Vivo Y100 5G has a dual rear camera setup with a main 50MP, f/1.8 camera alongside an 8MP, f/2.2 ultrawide shooter; an additional ‘flicker sensor’ sits below the two usable cameras. Rounding things off is an 8MP, f/2.0 front-facing camera for your selfies.
Other features of note include a 5,000mAh battery that Vivo rates as good for up to 16.6 hours of YouTube streaming, while its 80W FlashCharge fast charging allows it to charge back to 80% in just 30 minutes. There’s also dual stereo speakers that can go up to 300% in volume, as well as an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Vivo Y100 5G supports 5G, NFC, WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity too. You can get the device in your choice of Purple Leather or Crystal Black colourways.
