Alibaba Cloud partners with Universiti Malaya in new cloud computing and AI excellence centre

Alibaba Cloud and Universiti Malaya (UM) just announced a new partnership in the development of the Alibaba Cloud Academic Empowerment Program (AAEP), a frontier curriculum for cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) for both students and educators in UM.

The AAEP is a global education program designed to help schools and students gain access to Alibaba Cloud learning resources in cloud computing, data intelligence, and cloud security. The program works directly with accredited universities and other educational institutions to provide resources and tools to educators, students, and researchers.

This is in line with our continuous commitment and investment in nurturing the digital talents in Malaysia. We are delighted to welcome Universiti Malaya as a valued partner in the Alibaba Cloud Academic Empowerment Program (AAEP), as well as for the Alibaba Cloud Skills Centre and our first internship program in Malaysia.

Inside of the Alibaba Cloud Academy Skill Centre

UM students will gain access to Alibaba Cloud Academy, and access to 300 online and offline certification courses, 16 certification courses, and 250 online hands-on labs from over 300 global partners via the AAEP program. It will also provide the students access to Alibaba Cloud Academy’s cloud computing and e-learning resources through a series of seminars, special guest lectures and interactive workshops.

At the same time, UM and Alibaba Cloud launched the Alibaba Cloud internship program and the Alibaba Cloud Academy Skills Centre at the university.

The internship program, called “Future Star” is the first from Alibaba Cloud in Malaysia with UM being the pioneering university. Lasting between 3-6 months, interns from UM will be working with Alibaba Cloud to understand the various roles available in the cloud computing company. The Alibaba Cloud Academy Skill Centre meanwhile is a one-stop centre where students can log into the Alibaba Cloud Academy and access all available content.
