If you’re someone who is or had previously considered getting satellite internet from Starlink for yourself, then you’ll actually be able to get it from your local Harvey Norman store soon. The retailer has announced that they are the first official retailer for Starlink in Malaysia, working with Vstecs Bhd who recently became a Starlink authorised distributor to offer the Starlink kit on sale.

Specifically, Harvey Norman is offering the standard actuated Starlnk kit, priced at RM2,300, though interest-free monthly installment options are also available via Grab PayLater, LatitudePay, HSBC, Maybank and CIMB Bank—Starlink themselves do not offer an installment plan. The kit comes with the Starlink dish itself, along with the base, a router, a power cable and a Starlink cable. The retailer is already taking pre-orders for the Starlink kit, with full availability beginning 6 February onwards. You can pre-order one for yourself over on the Harvey Norman Malaysia website.

One thing to note though is that Harvey Norman’s ‘Shop With Confidence‘ policy only gives you 10 days to return it if there’s a defect of any sort, while Starlink gives you a 30-day trial altogether to test it out and see if it works where you’re located. Starlink though does charge RM100 for delivery and handling, while Harvey Norman offers free pick up option in stores from your local Harvey Norman.

Starlink subscription not included

One thing you should note however is that if and when you do get a Starlink kit for yourself via Harvey Norman, it will not come with a Starlink subscription included. This means that on top of the RM2,300 for the Starlink kit itself, you’ll also have to sign up for a Starlink subcription yourself.

As for how much the Starlink subscription costs, at time of writing the Starlink website states that the Standard Starlink service plan is priced at RM220 per month. If you want to use the Starlink kit on the go meanwhile, there’s also the Mobile Starlink plan that starts at RM700 a month for the regional plan and RM940/month for the global plan.

Then there’s also the Priority Starlink service plan which offers the same unlimited standard data plan along with additional priority data, starting at RM571/month for 40GB of priority data rising to 6TB of priority data at RM5,894/month. However, for those interested in the Priority plan you should consider getting the Flat High-Performance kit which costs RM11,613 and isn’t available from Harvey Norman at time being. You can learn more about the Starlink service plans here.
