Garmin announced the quatix 7 Pro, a new smartwatch designed for life in the marina. It comes with features designed for life on the water, as well as daily fitness, wellness and convenience.
On the face, Garmin included a 1.3” AMOLED display on the front, protected by a sapphire glass lens to secure it from scratches. Around the front face, it is surrounded by a titanium frame with a diamond-like carbon coating, a metal button guard along with quick-release bands with metal lugs. Users can control the watch either via the touch screen or the five buttons surrounding it.
Befitting its design inspiration, Garmin included specific apps on the quatix 7 Pro designed to be used on water. It comes preloaded with TopoActive maps for land-based exploration. For navigating on the water, Garmin included the BlueChart ®g3 coastal charts and LakeVü g3 inland maps as well as weather map overlays. The maps will be useful for navigating using the bright AMOLED screen on the quatix 7 Pro.
There is also the Trolling Motor Remote app that gives anglers the ability to control their Force trolling motors from anywhere on the boat, and the Fish Forecast app, which tracks the solar and lunar movements during the day to advise of what times fish will potentially be most active and find the best times for fishing expeditions.
The watch itself is water-rated up to 10 ATM, and it weighs only 70 grams in weight. The internal battery can last up to 16 days in normal mode, up to 21 days in Battery Saver mode and 6 days when it is always on.
For the smartwatch portion, there is 32GB of internal storage (for local music storage), supports Smart Notifications, and works with iOS and Android. It also features a complete set of health sensors, including a heart rate monitor, blood oxygen monitor, a compass, gyroscope, thermometer and even a barometer to measure the air pressure. Additionally, the watch also comes with a built-in LED flashlight for times you need to light your way in the dark.
The new Garmin quatix 7 Pro will be retailing in Malaysia for RM 4,950. The watches can be purchased from mid-December, at Shopee, Lazada, the AECO e-store, Garmin Brand Stores and selected authorised retailers around Malaysia.
