X, formerly known as Twitter, just added two new tiers for those looking to subscribe to its services. You may know it previously as Twitter Blue. There is the new ‘Premium+’ and the ‘Basic’ tier for additional features.

Pricing for the new tiers are:

  • Premium+: RM 70/month, RM 738/year
  • Basic: RM 13.13/month, RM 140.57/year

The ‘Premium+’ tier will give users the following perks:

  • No ads in ‘For You’ or ‘Following’
  • Larger algorithmic boost in replies
  • Full access to creator tools
  • The blue tick
  • Ability to download videos
  • Post longer videos

Meanwhile, the Basic tier will get (what X is calling “the most essential Premium features”):

  • Post editing
  • Longer posts
  • Post undo
  • Video downloads
  • Post longer videos

The two tiers joins the ‘Premium’, which was introduced earlier this year, but now is priced lower than before. Previously priced at RM 50/month, it is now RM 35/month.

introducing Premium+

– no ads in For You or Following
– largest boost for your replies (vs other Premium tiers or unverified users)
– access to our full suite of creator tools

now available on Web ✌️

One thing to note is that the subscription is only available on the web version, not on Android or iOS. It is speculated that the reason why X is not introducing the subscription on the mobile platforms is to circumvent the additional fees associated with the Apple and Google app stores.

The introduction of the new tiers is on the back of the news that Elon Musk is pushing the “everything app” idea. The company wants to challenge both Youtube and LinkedIn based on a report on Bloomberg. The company also recently announced that users can make video and voice calls in the app directly. Additionally, the rolled out a ‘Not A Bot’ subscription to selected market recently.
