AirAsia superapp is now going green – the colour that is. The digital arm of Capital A, airasia Digital, has rebranded itself as MOVE Digital, as the next chapter in the brand’s growth through its businesses with an increased focus on travel.
With the rebranding, the airasia Superapp will also be renamed as ‘airasia move’ in the coming months as part of the transformation. The app will now see the integration of the super app, BigPay and at the same time will offer other Capital A products on a single screen.
Tony Fernandes, co-founder of AirAsia and CEO of Capital A said, “The name MOVE signifies us better as the digital arm of Capital A, and reiterates our commitment to move people, ideas and innovation forward within the travel space. Imagine seamless access to travel and financial services on one single platform, with integrated financial features such as balance display, top-up and payments from BigPay – further strengthening the value proposition of airasia move as the travel app of choice. My role as the Executive Chairman of MOVE will be to enhance synergy between both businesses. With this change, the market can expect an enriching user experience aside from more integration of BigPay features within the airasia Superapp (now airasia move) very soon.”
The full integration will see ‘airasia move’ offer flights, hotels, shops, food, e-hailing rides, rewards and more in a single app. The app looks to have better synergy between the products on offer and BigPay – Capital A’s prepaid credit card service which sits under MOVE Digital. Capital A also looks to offer other financial services such as Buy-Now-Pay-Later, remittance, and even bite-sized insurance for its customers.
Fernandes said later that the transformation will be gradual rather than overnight to acclimatise airasia customers to the new ‘airasia move’ branding and updated app. The company expects the transition to be completed by the end of 2023.
He will also assume the role of Executive Chairman of MOVE and play a pivotal role in driving closer collaboration between ‘airasia move’ and BigPay in the near future.
The airasia Superapp saw its highest recorded MAU (monthly active users) of 15 million at the end of the second quarter, while BigPay saw its carded users grow by 16% YoY for the same period.
