The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is now official in Malaysia. Yes, Samsung is once again giving its latest flagships only minor design changes, which in this case include a Galaxy Z Fold 7-inspired camera island design.

However, they do offer some interesting new features, including the Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S26 series pricing in Malaysia

  • RM700 instant rebate with selected bank cards

You may learn more about these promotions via Samsung Malaysia’s official website.

Samsung Galaxy S26 series quick specs

Let’s start with displays. The regular Samsung Galaxy S26 offers a 6.3″ FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an LTPO refresh rate of 120Hz, essentially 0.1″ larger than the Galaxy S25. As for the S26+ and S26 Ultra, things remain largely similar with 6.7″ and 6.9″ QHD+ displays, respectively.

However, the Galaxy S26 Ultra does come with a unique trick up its sleeve — Privacy Display. Made possible with a unique AMOLED panel and Samsung’s AI smarts, this feature works like a built-in privacy screen protector but is smarter. It limits viewing angles so people beside you can’t see your screen. You can turn it on or off, or even apply it to specific apps only.

Performance-wise, the non-Ultra models get Samsung’s own flagship Exynos 2600 chipset, while the S26 Ultra is powered by the slightly overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC, custom-made by Qualcomm for Samsung. The latter is claimed to offer a 19% boost in CPU performance, a 24% boost in GPU performance, and a 39% boost in NPU performance.

Camera-wise, the Galaxy S26 and S26+ remain largely similar to their predecessors on the hardware front, featuring the familiar 50MP f/1.8 main shooter, 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle sensor, and 10MP f/2.4 3x telephoto camera. But on the Ultra model, there are some upgrades, particularly larger apertures on the 200MP main shooter and 50MP 5x telephoto sensor. Here’s a quick look at the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s rear camera setup:

  • 200MP f/1.4 main
  • 50MP f/1.9 ultra-wide-angle
  • 50MP f/2.9 5x telephoto
  • 10MP f/2.4 3x telephoto

All three devices also continue to rock the same 12MP f/2.2 selfie shooter.

Beyond hardware, Samsung is boasting software and AI upgrades that should allow you to capture better-looking shots. This includes a customised Application Processor (AP) and ProScaler to help fix photos taken with shaky hands or under poor shooting conditions, improved night photography capabilities, and an enhanced AI image signal processor (ISP) and object-aware engine for the front camera.

Battery-wise, the vanilla Galaxy S26 now comes with 300mAh more capacity at a total of 4,300mAh, while the Plus and Ultra models retain their 4,900mAh and 5,000mAh cells, respectively.

As for charging, the Galaxy S26 disappointingly retains its 25W wired and 15W wireless charging speeds. The S26+ continues to charge at 45W via USB-C, but gets a slight bump in wireless charging to 20W, up from 15W. The Ultra model now charges faster at 60W via USB-C, and at 20W using a wireless charger.

Software-wise, the Galaxy S26 series will ship with Samsung’s One UI 8.5, based on Android 16. This includes new Galaxy AI features such as Creative Studio for voice prompt image editing, Audio Eraser for Netflix, YouTube, and Instagram, Now Nudge, which suggests actions based on understanding context from your texts, Circle to Search that’s smarter and more proactive, agentic AI features, as well as AI call screening.
