Rolls-Royce Spectre Malaysia: Rolls-Royce’s first fully electric luxury coupe with 577hp, 530km range, starts from RM2 mil

As the electric vehicle revolution is taking the automotive industry by storm, even ultra-luxury manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce don’t want to be left behind. You might be surprised to hear this but the brand’s first electric offering, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is now officially available in Malaysia.

The Regional Director of Asia Pacific for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Irene Nikkein acknowledged that Malaysia is a key market for the brand in this region. Perhaps, that is why our market gets to see the new ultra-luxury EV this early.

Rolls-Royce Spectre Malaysia pricing, warranty

In Malaysia, the Rolls-Royce Spectre has a starting price of RM2,000,000 not inclusive of any options or taxes. As each Rolls-Royce is bespoke and built to customers’ specifications, this means the pricing of your Spectre will only go upwards from that very point.

Each Spectre comes with a standard 4-year unlimited mileage warranty although its high-voltage battery does have its own 10-year warranty. Customers will also be provided with 24/7 roadside assistance, to the extent that Rolls-Royce will come and bring the Spectre to the nearest charging station in case you depleted its battery completely.

Rolls-Royce also said that it has a dedicated “flying doctor” who is on standby 24/7 and will come to Malaysia in order to get your Spectre working again if there is such a need. Nevertheless, all of the brand’s technicians in Malaysia are already fully trained and certified to work on Spectre ahead of the EV’s general rollout in Q4 this year.

Meanwhile, remember when we said earlier the Spectre is now officially available in Malaysia? Well, there will be some waiting time involved though.

This is because the waiting list already stretched out through 2024 and this applies to all markets throughout the world. In other words, your Spectre will most probably arrive in 2025 if you order it today.

Power output, battery, charging, and range

When it comes to performance, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is fitted with two electric motors that provide a total output of 430kW (577hp) alongside 900Nm of torque. This allows the EV to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

Powering this ultra-luxury EV is a 102kWh battery which helps the Spectre deliver a WLTP range of 530km. As for charging time, it takes around 34 minutes to go from 10% to 80% via a DC fast charger (DCFC) with at least 195kW power output.

When plugged into a 50kW DCFC, the charging time would increase to 95 minutes. The Spectre is among the very few EVs that carry an onboard 22kW AC charger but even then it takes around 5 hours 30 minutes to fully charge the vehicle from empty through AC charging.

The Spectre is still a bone fide Rolls-Royce

The arrival of Spectre marked a new era for Rolls-Royce. This model is the not only the first of its kind for the brand but it also acts as the starting point, since Rolls-Royce is now moving forward to make its entire portfolio fully electric by the end of 2030.

Even though it is an EV, the Spectre is definitely still a Rolls-Royce through and through. After all, the unmistakable Pantheon grille is still there on this electric coupe and same goes for the brand’s Spirit of Ecstasy figurine on its hood.

That being said, Spectre has the widest Pantheon grille that ever fitted in to a Rolls-Royce and it is also illuminated with 22 individual LEDs. In addition to that, the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine for the Spectre has been remodelled to have a lower stand and be more aerodynamic.

Together with the help of its seamless roofline, the Spectre is the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce to date with a drag coefficient of 0.25cd. At the same time, the company also pointed out that the Spectre is first two-door Rolls-Royce to be fitted with 23-inch wheels in almost 200 years.

Speaking about the door, the aluminium pillarless coach doors on Spectre is also the largest that the company has fitted into its vehicle so far at almost 1.5 metres in length. They have been equipped with the Effortless Doors power-assisted system which allows the door to be closed automatically when the driver press the brake pedal.

In case you wondering, yes, there are hidden umbrellas on both sides of the Spectre. This is something that Rolls-Royce is known for and the brand continues to keep this particular signature element alive even with Spectre.

Once inside, prepare to be bedazzled by the Starlight Doors and Starlight Headliner which involved more than 6,000 individuals LED “stars” throughout the cabin. There is also the illuminated fascia that is located on the passenger side of the dashboard featuring over 5,500 stars.

Rolls-Royce did not touch much on the Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) within the Spectre. However, the company did say that the EV does come with Active Lane Centring and Adaptive Cruise Control that can work simultaneously which means that the EV has a Level 2 driving automation.
