Australian audio company Rode just announced their latest professional wireless microphone system. Called Wireless Pro, it promised to deliver next-level audio quality that the company claims it as the most powerful wireless mic ever.
The new Wireless Pro features a level of versatility and a wide feature set not found on any other microphone on the market. Released after the Rode Wireless ME, the Wireless Pro maintains the form factor that they have been using since the first Wireless GO model the company/ pioneered way back in 2019.
At its core, the Wireless Pro is a compact dual-channel wireless microphone with additional features that makes it stand out. For starters, it uses the company’s 2.4 GHz digital transmission with 128-bit encryption that it claims allows for crystal-clear, stable audio at up to 260 meters, line of sight.
The system uses on-board 32-bit float recording capability, and it comes with built-in 32GB of internal memory. This gives filmmakers peace of mind as there will still be a copy of the recording if anything happens in between.
What makes the new model exciting is baked-in time-codes in the recording, giving editors an easier time to sync in post-production as well as flexible gain control — using “intelligent algorithms” to automatically control audio levels to ensure the output is smooth and balanced and reduces the risk of clipping — as well as a safety channel for ensuring pristine audio when recording directly to camera.
The transmitter is now a microphone on its own, that also works as a level indicator via the built-in display, similar to the Wireless Go II. It comes with a 3.5mm multi-function jack that can work as a headphone jack for monitoring or another lavalier microphone as a “narrator”. The system also can be configured to be used with a computer or a smartphone via the Rode Central app.
All units are powered by a built-in battery and can be charged via USB-C, or using the smart charge case included in the kit that doubles as a carrying/protection case.
The Rode Wireless Pro costs USD399 (about RM1,854.95) and includes a charging case, two Rode Lavalier II microphones, cables, MagClip Go magnetic mounting clips, and an accessory case.
