Besides the new standalone Maxis Postpaid plans, customers on Family plans including older MaxisOne Prime can also enjoy 5G with unlimited data. The Maxis Family and MaxisOne Prime plans are bundled postpaid plans with fibre, which enables users to enjoy unlimited data for both fixed and mobile. As part of its introductory offer, Maxis postpaid customers can start enjoying 5G access for free for 30 days on their existing plan.
Maxis Family Plan can enjoy 5G with 5G access pass
In order to access Digital Nasional Berhad’s 5G network, customers on existing Maxis 4G plans are required to activate the 5G access pass which costs RM10/month. The pass can be activated on the Maxis app (Apple AppStore, Google Play Store, Huawei App Gallery) and they are offering the first month for free. Take note that this pass will auto-renew and if you don’t want 5G, you can terminate the pass at any time before the next cycle.
For users on Maxis Family Plan as well as MaxisOne Prime, the 5G access pass is required for each line. So if you have a principal line and two supplementary lines, you need to activate the pass for 3 lines (3x RM10/month). If you have four lines, you’ll have to pay RM40 (4x RM10/month) to access 5G. Maxis has confirmed that all users on Maxis Family Plan as well as MaxisOne Prime which currently enjoy unlimited 4G quota will also get to enjoy unlimited data on 5G.
How to enable 5G on Maxis Postpaid Supplementary lines?
If you don’t have Maxis fibre broadband, Maxis supplementary lines such as Postpaid Share 48 are also able to access 5G. If the main principal line is still on the older 4G Maxis Postpaid 98, 108, 128, 158 and 188, each supplementary line can activate the 5G pass for free for the first 30 days via the Maxis app. After the trial period, you will need to pay RM10/month per line to continue to enjoy 5G.
If you don’t want to pay RM10/month for each supplementary line, the next option is to upgrade the main Maxis postpaid to the newer 5G plans such as Postpaid 79, 109, 139, 169 and 199 which offers 2.5x data for additional RM11/month. Maxis has confirmed that all supplementary lines will get to enjoy 5G if the principal line is upgraded to the new 5G-enabled plans. Take note that all 5G data usage will utilise the existing monthly data pool.
In order to use 5G, users must have a 5G-enabled phone, a 5G-enabled plan and be within DNB’s 5G coverage area. You can learn how to get started with 5G here.
