The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is finally revealed and this is the Korean smartphone maker’s 5th generation Fold. While it doesn’t look much different from the Galaxy Z Fold 4 at first glance, Samsung has made extra refinements to its flagship foldable while upgrading its multi-tasking capabilities.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Price in Malaysia
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 pricing in Malaysia remains the same as the previous Galaxy Z Fold 4. Here’s the official pricing in Malaysia:

- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 512GB – RM7,299
- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 1TB – RM8,299
The Galaxy Z Fold 5 comes in 3 standard colours – Icy Blue, Phantom Black and Cream. However, Samsung is also offering additional online exclusive colours – Grey and Blue.

Slimmer and thinner bezels
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is thinner and lighter than before. While it retains a similar 6.2″ 120Hz HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display for the cover, the new fold is slightly narrower thanks to thinner bezels. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is also lighter at 253g vs 263g on the Fold 4.
When unfolded, it still gets the same 7.6″ QXGA+ 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex Display (2176×1812) and Samsung has shaved a little bit off from the total height and width. The Galaxy Z Fold is only 6.1mm thick when unfolded which is 0.2mm thinner than the previous model.
No more “thigh gap”
The “thigh gap” has always been one of the design criticism of the Galaxy Z Fold series and it is worth pointing out that this has been solved with the new Z Fold 5 thanks to a revised hinge. Not only this makes the Z Fold 5 thinner overall, but it also looks more aesthetically pleasing to look at, especially for a device that costs over RM6,000.
Upgraded performance, run 8 apps simultaneously
Similar to the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, the new Galaxy Z Fold 5 gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage. Samsung has also made some software improvements, allowing you to run up to 8 apps simultaneously. This includes 3 apps snapped in multi-window mode with an additional 5 floating apps. The taskbar is also tweaked and it can show four most recent apps.
Similar camera setup and battery capacity
The rest of the device remains unchanged which includes the same camera setup and battery capacity. The rear still retains a triple-camera setup arranged on a vertical island. This includes a 50MP main dual-pixel wide camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS. The cover gets a 10MP selfie camera while the internal display gets a 4MP under-display camera.
If you want a stylus, Samsung has made some improvements to the S Pen and case which are sold separately. The redesigned S Pen for the Z Fold 5 is thinner, similar to the ones that came with the Galaxy S23 Ultra. It can be stowed in a new redesigned case which is less bulky compared to the previous Galaxy Z Fold series.
Powering the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is the same 4,400mAh battery and it supports 25W fast wired charging as well as 15W wireless charging. Similar to its predecessor, there’s also IPX8 water resistance and stereo speakers. Besides 5G, the foldable device also supports WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3.
Out of the box, it runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1 skin on top. Like any new Samsung flagship device, it supports 4 years of major Android OS updates and 5 years of security patches.
